Jewelry & Metalsmithing: Chainmaille
Instructor: Mary Kernahan
Chainmaille is an ancient art form that has beenin continuous use for centuries. Learn this artusing contemporary tools and techniques. Open tostudents of all skill levels, the course is designed totake the student from the fundamentals of ring fabricationthrough the construction of both simpleand complex patterns to produce stunning designs.Students learn weaves from the European, Japanese,Persian, orbital, and spiral families, plus willexplore combining techniques to create their ownunique creations. The use of a jeweler’s saw, drilland sheet metal to construct simple clasps andembellishments will also be introduced.Supplies for the first class are provided.
Prerequisite: The completion of a beginningjewelry / metals class.

Metals/Jewelry Department Students
All Jewelry/Metals students pay a fee to cover supplies, and the use of tools/studio equipment during the class periods.
Wearing a mask in the BBAC metals studio is strongly encouraged.
Materials list of items to bring:-Please bring a small notebook and pencil to class-Wear close-toed shoes and long pants-Bring your own safety goggles, or you can share the studio goggles
