Drawing & Painting: Nature's Palette Color Studies
Instructor: Barbara Holmer
In this class, students will learn about and create the Color Bias Color Wheel, practice mixing and matching colors for natural subjects while reflecting on Werner’s Nomenclature of Color, and complete small studies using colored pencil* or watercolor*. Subjects will be provided. *Bring all supplies that are relevant to your chosen medium to the first class.
Prerequisite: Students should have previous experience with their chosen medium.

SUPPLY LIST FOR COLORED PENCIL OR WATERCOLOR
GENERAL:
-kneaded eraser and white plastic eraser (Staedtler Mars) -sighting stick, divider, or plastic grid ruler -.5mm mechanical pencils with leads (F, HB, 2B) -small (1”) hake brush or other soft brush -pencil sharpener that gives a good point (for colored pencil) -Staples brand model #21835 -Staedtler hand held sharpener, 2 hole tub -Carl Angel 5 Royal or Mitsubishi manual sharpener -drawing board *or foam core (about 11”x14” ) -1/2" artist's tape -1" low tack painter's tape (if working with watercolor)
PAPER: 9"x12" -Graphics 360 layout paper or other translucent layout paper -Saral transfer paper (graphite paper) if you have it-Tracing paper-HOT PRESS watercolor paper (watercolor or colored pencil) Blick Premiere HP OR Saunders Waterford HP 140# Traditional or High White -Stonehenge Drawing Paper (colored pencil) -Strathmore series 400 or 500 Bristol Board Vellum surface (colored pencil)
