The Baltimore wet weekend is in aid of the Wild Atlantic Pool located in Baltimore Co. Cork. This is a community run pool and gym open to everyone. This fund raising event will be a weekend of swimming in the Beautiful Village of Baltimore and surrounding areas. The main event of the Weekend is the Sherkin Island 2k swim on Saturday the 28th starting at 15:30 from Sherkin Island swimming back to the Mainland and finishing at Baltimore Pier. After the swim there is usually a great atmosphere in the village, so please stay and enjoy the evening with us.
Event details and schedule
The Baltimore wet Weekend consists of a gathering of swimmers in the village of Balktimore and the nearby salt water lake, Lough Hyne. The main event is 2k swim from Sherkin Island pier to the slipway in Baltimore. This weekend gives all swimmers to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Baltimore & Lough Hyne while catching up with Open Water swimmers from all over, swimmers also usually take the opportunity to enjoy the bioluminescence of a night time dip in lough Hyne.
Registration for the Sherkin Island swim on the 28th September will be from 10:30 to 14:00 at the Sailing Club at Baltimore Pier. A safety briefing will follow transportation by ferry to Sherkin Island and be given at 15:15 followed by a 15:30 swim start time.
A full briefing document will be issues prior to the weekend.
