With easy-to-follow instructions, students will use colored pencils to create a lovely still-life featuring spring tulips in blue vases. The instructor will step you through understanding the key characteristics of glass and how to translate them to paper. In addition, you will capture the delicate nature of tulips by applying soft layers of color with subtle transitions between each tone. All levels are welcome. The zoom link and list of needed supplies will be provided to students before the class via email from the instructor.
Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils (72 pencil set recommended) or equivalent artist’s quality colored pencils. Prismacolor Colorless BlenderPencil Sharpener (electric, battery-operated or manual)Artists quality drawing paper, either pad or individual sheets, in size 8” by 10” or 9” by 12” in a light-toned grey or blue color. Recommended brands are: o Legion Stonehenge (pad in assorted colors) o Strathmore Artagain (pad in assorted tints) o Canson Mi-Teintes (pad in gray tones) * o Art Spectrum Colourfix Smooth (light grey or blue) o Clairefontaine Pastelmat (light grey) *Please note that some papers have a smooth and rough side, especially Canson MiTeintes. Use the smooth side for colored pencils. The rough side (usually the bottom side if you buy the paper in a pad) is used for pastels. ? Gamsol Odorless Mineral Spirits (4.2 oz bottle) or equivalent solvent or rubbing alcohol ? Small paint brush or Q-tips ?
