About this event
Lucia Schaefer (they/she) has over 10 years experience teaching students from PreK to 8th grade and is in their 6th year at Browne. They believe that arts education is a fundamental human right and that everyone maintains the ability to create regardless of their age or experience. Lucia holds a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Choral Music Education and is certified in the Kodály method, Orff process, and Arts Integration. They are committed to teaching music through a globally-centered and decolonized lens and is inspired by the interests and experiences of her students. When she is not in the classroom, Lucia is the early childhood ear training and musicianship teacher for the DC chapter of the National Children’s Chorus, the President of the Folklore Society of Greater Washington, and is the alto soloist for St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in downtown DC. Lucia enjoys attending and calling social dances such as square and contra, as well as exploring new restaurants with her spouse, Thad, in and around their neighborhood in NW DC. Instruments offered: Beginning Piano only, Guitar/Ukulele Grades: Kindergarten-8th Grade
