About this event

Instructor: Dominique Corbett graduated with a BA in Russian & French Studies from Wells College and an MA in Russian & East European Studies from Yale University. She graduated from the Police Academy in 1994 and served 28.5 years, retiring as a Patrol Watch Commander/Lieutenant. She served as a Patrol Officer, Detective and Crime Scene Technician, Patrol Sergeant, Training Sergeant, and Patrol Lieutenant. She also was assigned to the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney for Medicaid Fraud. She served in the U.S. Army Reserves and U.S. Air Force Reserves, retiring after 24 years of military service. In her last years in the USAF, she was put on special assignment for a counterdrug mission on Counter Threat Finance tracking and assisting the U.S. Treasury with sanctions. She worked with the Treasury, the FBI, the Department of State, the Department of Commerce, NCIS, and other law enforcement agencies. Description: This course will be almost akin to a citizen’s academy, where an explanation will be given on the entire hiring process, training, career development, positions, and training available, current technology’s effect on policing, and some major political and social changes affecting policing today using personal experiences. New content has been added since the previously held class.
