About this event

Instructors: Susan Potter and Pat Dunlop established the Butterfly Monarchy Club (BMC) in 2020. Susan is the President, and Pat is the vice president. They started the first and only chapter of the North American Butterfly Association in SC. Both have extensive knowledge of growing milkweed and raising monarchs and swallowtails. They have been instrumental in educating and raising awareness of the importance of providing host and nectar plants to local garden clubs, civic organizations, etc. Description: This class will be presented by Butterfly Monarchy Club (BMC) board members. The BMC's mission is to encourage community involvement and education for the well-being and preservation of all butterflies, with special emphasis on monarchs. The BMC has joined the North American Butterfly Association and is the organization's first and only SC Chapter. Information will be provided on attracting butterflies to your garden and what can be done to help save the monarchs. Live exhibits, including butterfly eggs, caterpillars, chrysalis, and butterflies, will be on display in this class. Attendees will be provided with informational handouts on SC native plants, which are host plants to butterflies and nectar plants for pollinators.
