Learn the basics of how to work with wood and metal in this knifemaking class! A versatile tool here at the Living Earth School, many of us use knives every day, for carving, cooking, and much more. And think about it… how cool is it to make an object you can use to make other objects? Options: The first level is to make your own sheath and wooden handle, and fit a pre-made blade into it. This is a beginner knife-making project and will only take one day to complete. The next level is to make your own blade—could be a utility knife, chef’s knife, or flat-blade hatchet—using the stock removal method. This is an advanced project and will take two days to complete. Learn new skills, and make new friends. Knifemaking is just one of the projects Peter is offering this weekend, so you will be working alongside a number of other people making a number of different things! Ages: All! Most participants are adults, but all ages are welcome. Children must have a responsible adult with them if they cannot work alone. Children under 8 are required to have an adult come and help get them settled and started on a project.
