Salomon Introduces The GRVL Concept - A Hybrid "Super Show" Built For The Road And Beyond

Salomon GRVL Concept

Annecy, FRANCE — Salomon, the modern mountain sports lifestyle brand, unveils the GRVL Concept, a groundbreaking hybrid running shoe that combines the energy return and propulsion of a road “super shoe” with the grip and protection needed for off-road exploration. Engineered for athletes who want the freedom to leave the pavement without sacrificing performance, the GRVL Concept delivers pinnacle innovation in a versatile package.

At its core, the shoe features a PEBA-based supercritical foam midsole, engineered for soft landings and maximum energy return. This high-performance cushioning is paired with two full-length carbon blades that provide a snappy, propulsive ride and smoother transitions from heel to toe. The result is a shoe that delivers the bounce and speed runners expect from the fastest road models, now tuned for a wider range of terrain.

The outsole takes inspiration from gravel bike tires, with a unique geometry and shallow 1.5mm lugs that offer enough traction for dirt, gravel, and mixed surfaces, while maintaining the rolling efficiency of a road racer. With a 43mm/37mm stack height, the GRVL Concept provides the cushioning and rebound of a max-stack super shoe.

The shoe’s inclusive fit combines a roomy toe box with Salomon’s signature quickLACE system, ensuring a secure foothold without compromising comfort. To protect against grit and debris, a light knitted gaiter is integrated seamlessly into the upper, offering protection on loose surfaces without adding weight.
