With two hours to go until gun time, have a 200-calorie snack. Since we have more time until the event, this should be a carb-heavy snack that includes protein.

This advice is meant to help you fuel effectively for your event. Remember, though, every athlete has his or her individual needs. Some prefer and tolerate more calories and nutrients pre-race while others require less. You know what works best for you. As endurance athletes, we're always learning about this wonderful piece of machinery called our body. Practice during training and you will find your niche.
