Have the Right Tools
The right tools are integral to healthy camping food. It's too easy to grab something unhealthy when you forgot a pan for the chicken or a skewer for veggies. Some tools you cannot overlook include:
- Electric stove for the things that can't go over an open flame
- Spatula
- Spices: salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, to name a few
- Skewers for veggies
- Tinfoil for the Dutch oven cooking method
- Plastic bags for healthy snack packs like celery and carrots
Remember Your Daily Habits
Camping is a vacation, and on vacation it's easy to forget good habits in lieu of treating yourself. However, it's important to remember your daily healthy habits.
Things like drinking eight 8-ounce glasses of water and getting enough fruits and veggies are imperative to fueling your active weekend. You'll be hiking, swimming, biking and more, which makes it critical that your body isn't fatigued from a lack of nutrition.

Make it Convenient
Finally, the most important piece to this puzzle is making things convenient. Convenience is the reason you might reach for an open bag of chips; it's right there. However, most fruit is extremely handy and mobile, and doesn't need to be prepped. Bananas, apples and oranges are all grab-and-go items that are healthy. If you cut carrots and celery beforehand, you can take them on the go as well.
Healthy camping food is not only the better choice for your body. It's easy to cook, too. If you prep beforehand, make it convenient, and have all the right tools, your healthy camping meals are just a campfire away.
