Tiramisu Recipe

This Italian treat requires no baking at all. Delicious layers of store-bought, coffee-dipped cookies and sweetened mascarpone cheese are the foundation for tiramisu.

Ingredients

  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 pound of mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 24-ounce package ladyfinger cookies
  • 1/3 cup strong brewed coffee or coffee liquor of your choice
  • Unsweetened cocoa power

Instructions

Whisk egg yolks and sugar in a metal bowl set over a saucepan of barely simmering water for 10 minutes until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and whip yolks until thick.

Add mascarpone to yolks and mix thoroughly.

In a separate bowl, whip cream until stiff peaks form. Fold whipped cream into yolks/cheese mixture and set aside.

Using a springform pan or large glass pan, line bottom with cookies. Brush cookies with coffee and spoon cream over the ladyfingers. (If using a springform pan, line the side with cookies split in half and standing up.) Repeat alternating cookies and coffee with cream until all ingredients are gone.

Sift cocoa on top and refrigerate for at least 5 hours before serving.
