These ensembles provide the opportunity for students of all levels and instruments to deepen their knowledge of jazz and develop their skills in a group context. Each group meets weekly with a member of Levine's expert jazz faculty, who coaches the students in studying and playing songs from the standard jazz repertoire, developing their improvisation abilities, and learning to work as a group.
Please note: No audition is required, but students should have at least one year of study on their instrument and basic skills in music-reading, improvisation, and playing from a fakebook. All instrumentalists and vocalists are welcome. Piano, amplifiers, and drum set are provided.
This experience will take place IN-PERSON, INDOORS. Students in this class must show proof of vaccination in order to participate. See the Return to Campus Guide for more info.
