About this event

Unleash your creativity and tell your story through animation with this two-week intensive studio experience! Feel empowered with the skills to create your own film, with your own story and narrative. Our summer Filmmaking Camps are for kids and teens who aspire to tell stories with visual mediums. We use professional software to create a 3D animated short film in two weeks. The camp will be taught by a professional animator and mentored by our Industry Advisors, whose experience includes films and games like – World of Warcraft, Iron Man, Book of Life, Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows, and more. In this camp, students will learn the production phases of creating 3D animated short films and understand how story and camera work. They will learn how to control their own narrative and express their inner voice through animation. Students will also learn to work in a team setup, analyze and offer feedback in a constructive and meaningful way. The stages of production within this camp are detailed below. CONCEPT: We begin the development process with students pitching their stories. We work together to board the pitch and finalize the concept. Students learn how to storyboard and how to construct a story. PRODUCTION: Here we start building the film, animating one frame at a time. Students learn how animation works, the importance of cameras, and the production pipeline for a 3D film. POST-PRODUCTION: At this stage of production students learn how to polish animation and check all details for render. We spend time diligently checking all aspects of production and making sure our animation looks awesome. COMPLETION: We set our movie for editing & rendering, then do a presentation for family and friends. At the end, we go home as proud movie directors and animators, with an animated short film to show! No prior experience required. Students must bring their own devices and software. A computer (Windows PC or Mac) would be needed. Software for this class is Autodesk May
