Slipcasting with Forest Ceramic Co Internationally recognized artists Sean Roberts and Valeri Aleksandrov lead this workshop where students will learn all aspects of bringing slipcasting into a studio practice. We will cover the basics, with a very quick mold demo and mixing of casting slips, and move to more advanced techniques. We will work with colored slip, and various additive and subtractive processes, manipulating the slipcasting process beyond simple casting from a mold. Methods for using cast pieces along with wheel or handbuilt bases will also be covered. The goal during the workshop is to understand the slipcasting process, and students can expect to walk away from the course with 2-3 successful castings.
