This class is 6 sessions; there will be no class on 7/3/25. Sailing will end at dark. This six-week class is designed for adult women students who want to learn the basics of sailing. Students are taught the parts of a sailboat, the points of sail, and basic knot tying, among other skills. Students are first introduced to sailing through on-land lectures and demonstrations, then go out in a 14-foot Club 420 sailboat to learn the basic skills. In later classes in the session, the students will have an opportunity to sail on a larger keelboat. There will be no class on 7/3/2025. Prerequisites: 18 years old min, comfortable with swimming in open water without assistance, swim 25 yards, tread water for minimum 1 minute This class is offered: Thursday evenings, six weeks (no class 7/3) MAKEUP DATES: Because sailing is inherently a weather dependent activity, cancellations may occur due to unfavorable sailing conditions. However, these sessions will be made up by adding additional Thursday nights in fall as needed. Classes will be held at the same time in the evening as the other sailing sessions (6pm-9).
