Ages 18+. This plein air workshop is designed for the beginning and intermediate artist. This workshop will focus on sketching and painting in picturesque Island Park. Instructor Ellen Gabehart will demonstrate drawing and painting a variety of outdoor subjects such as trees, the river, rocks, geese and ducks. Daily evaluations at the end of each class. Bring a sack lunch.
Ellen Drawing supply list: You can choose to draw with one kind of art materials or experiment with using a variety of drawing materials. Materials List: Drawing Tablet 9x12 or 11x14, Lead Pencils #2, Eraser Pearl Pink, Colored Pencils: Either Crayola, Prismacolor, or optional Watercolor pencils, Colors: Yellow, orange, red, light and dark green, light and dark blue, pink, violet, grey, black. Micron Pens: #1, 3, 5 (#8 Optional). Watercolor supply list: Watercolor paper: 90 or 140 lb. (cold press or tablet). Note: if you purchase large sheets you can cut them to smaller sizes. Brushes: 3 or 4 different sizes, 1 flat brush, 2 round brushes. Paints: Cotman (reasonable), Winsor Newton (expensive), or feel free to check other brands. Colors: lemon yellow, new gamboge, scarlet lake (light red), alizarin crimson, cerulean blue, cobalt blue, winsor blue, yellow ochre, burnt sienna, paynes grey. Note: Watercolor pencils optional. Bring pencils, eraser, paper towels or rags, Micron Pens, old toothbrush and cut up small sponges. Bring a sack lunch.
