Out of the Box Costumes: Join instructor Lee Ann Hittenberger in the perfect hands-on class for the aspiring costume designer. Students will explore elements of design through fashion sketching, making color choices and learning various techniques for construction. There will be hand sewing and some machine sewing. We’ll discover how to take ideas from the page to the stage! At the end of the week, each student will be taking home their projects in their hand-sewn bag. No prior sewing experience necessary. Let’s Craft: Felting & Quilling: Join instructor Kimberly Chu for two fun crafts taught in this class: felting and quilling. This week we will create felted figures using basic hand sewing skills, flat felt, barbed needles, and wool roving. The art of quilling will also be introduced. Using narrow, colorful strips of paper, a slotted tool, and glue, we will create beautiful and unique designs that can be made into pictures and cards. The students are encouraged to draw up their own patterns and dream up their own creations.
