Painting: Plein Aire Essentials - Color, Value & Design - Esenciales de la Pintura al Aire Libre: Color, Valor y Diseño
This workshop will focus on three important aspects of landscape painting: color, value and design. Demos and instruction will cover composition, editing for impact, paint application, and creating effective color relationships to convey natural light effects. Starting with compositional thumbnails students will work up to completing a plein-air painting each day. Daily demos and lecture include individualized instruction and feedback.
Pre-requisites: beginning to intermediate level drawing skills and basic knowledge of oils or acrylics. Students will need to bring their own easel and be prepared to go on foot. Day 1 Meets in the Painting studio (room 38) Locations for days 2 & 3 TBA, allow one hour for lunch. Get materials list and syllabus online. ¡También en español! El instructor es bilingüe.
Instructor is bilingual, so Spanish speakers welcome! Class is taught in English, but instructor will translate for Spanish speakers and answer questions.

MAC Drawing, Painting & Mixed Media Program Information
NO CLASS 6/23 - makeup on SATURDAY, July 2nd, 9am to 4pm. LOCATION FOR MAKEUP:Hoyt Arboretum and we’ll meet in front of the Visitor Center at 9am. There is a bathroom at the visitor center along with paid parking. Free parking is also available on the street but it is farther away. There are places somewhat nearby to eat so consider bringing lunch to save time. The address is 4000 SW Fairview Blvd, Portland, OR 97221.
Any students who cannot attend makeup will be refunded one class.
