Virtual Programs • 1120 SW 5TH AVE PORTLAND PARKS & RECREATION PortlandOR  97204 Organized by Portland Parks and Recreation

About this event

Description

Learn the basics of knitting in this fun online class! During our 8 weekly 1 hour classes, you'll learn how to cast on, knit, finish in ends and cast off a multiple stitch sampler scarf. We'll get you started and along the way discuss different types and sizes of yarn, how to problem solve, change colors, finishing options, how to check your gauge and more.
Participants will need to supply their own materials listed below:
  • 1 pair of Knitting needles size 8, 9, 10 or 10.5 - the smaller the needle the tighter the knit will be.
  • 1 large eyed yarn needle to darn in ends
  • 1 or 2 skeins, 4 oz or 100 gram each of Knitting Worsted weight yarn - not baby, sport, or bulky weight. One 4 oz skein will make a small scarf, a larger one will require more.

Pay What You Can: We understand that our activity fees may be a barrier to participation for some members of our community. If you are unable to pay the full fee amount, you may use the discount feature at check-out to pay what you can.

Donate: Portland Parks & Recreation relies on customer activity fees to make public programs possible. If you have the financial means, please consider making a donation to PP&R’s “Community Access Fund” at check-out (see the “Donation” drop-down list.). This fund helps us serve those in need. Thank you for your support.

Third Party Application: This class will be using Zoom, a third-party application. Please be aware that you will need to agree to the terms of use for the 3rd party application in order to participate in this class.
