Day hiking is an ideal way to increase fitness while enjoying the natural beauty and history of the city and nearby. Panoramic views of the city and Cascade Range, forested corridors, local rivers, native plants and birds all combine for surprising rewards. Metro Mover hikes are two hours long and hikers provide their own transportation to the trailhead. See receipt notes for hike description and directions.
There is no skill level assessment required to participate in this program, but you must be able to walk a 25-minute mile without shortness of breath. Sturdy footwear required.

Hoyt Arboretum/Pittock Mansion (Moderate)
Description: The 232-acre Arboretum is located in the west hills of Portland. Walk is on forest floor with some inclines. Trail leads up to historic Pittock Mansion and gardens with views of city and mountains. Restrooms available. Washington Park hourly parking rates apply.
Prerequisite: There is no skill level assessment required to participate in this program, but you must be able to walk a 25-minute mile without shortness of breath. Sturdy footwear required. To receive a credit or refund upon withdrawal, call 503-823-4328 at least one week before the hike date.
