Drawing is a fundamental artistic skill from which all other art forms grow or are supported by. Emphasis will be on training the hand and eye to work together to draw what you see. Through lecture and demonstration, drawing materials and surfaces will be covered, along with core concepts of value, shading, texture, light and cast shadow, proportion, perspective, and composition. Contour drawing, gesture, quick sketches, and longer drawings will all be explained and practiced. Historical and contemporary drawing styles will be shown to gain perspective on how artists have employed these materials and techniques.
Geared for beginners, but students wanting to get a refresher are welcome. Get materials list online.
