Description
Tai Chi is a continuously moving sequence of controlled movements, which can be used to improve balance, flexibility, cardiovascular health and physical/motor control. Research studies show Tai Chi may lower the risk of falls and improve psychological health. After time, the focus and calm cultivated by the meditative aspect of Tai Chi may lower stress and contribute to behavioral balance. The movement of Tai Chi is grounded in the concepts of Ying and Yang. Tai Chi is the practice of appropriate, balanced response to outside forces, yielding and redirecting. There are different approaches to the practice of Tai Chi from a purely physical exercise to a complete spiritual discipline. This class practices the Yang style of Tai Chi, taught in a traditional manner and each class finishes with a series of standing meditations.
Intermediate levels require the consent of instructor prior to enrollment.
