About This Activity

The U12 program serves athletes so as to develop an understanding of the rules of the sport, learn sportsmanship, and be a part of the Sugar Bowl Ski Team & Academy culture. U12 athletes are expected to participate in all levels of skiing, such as directed free skiing, drill progressions and gate training. We also highly encourage athletes to participate in racing. U12 athletes who do not intend to participate in U.S. Ski and Snowboard sanctioned Far West events can participate in Tahoe League events as well as SBSTA intrasquad events. Athletes should be familiar with and aware of chairlift safety and should be able to load chairlifts on their own. They should also be able to load chairlifts while carrying a backpack. The U12 program is designed to function as a progressional program that blends all domains of training for long-term success in competitive ski racing in the disciplines of Slalom, Giant Slalom, and Super G. FT U12s will have the opportunity to train five days a week. FT U12s will be expected to have a greater sense of commitment and discipline. Resort season pass is included in the cost of the program. Visit the program page on our website for more details regarding schedule and equipment.
