Description
We're sorry, but this activity is over. The last meeting was Thursday, April 14, 2022.
This is a designated time to complete the prerequisites that the American Red Cross requires before registering for a Lifeguard Training Course.
The skills you will perform at the Pre-Course Session are as follows:
- Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both, but must swim with their face in the water.
- Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs.
- Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, make a surface dive to a depth of 7-10 feet to retrieve a 10-lb object, return to the surface and swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
Participants must successfully complete one pre-course session prior to enrolling in the Lifeguard Training Course. Participants may sign up for any Pre-Course Session as long as it is completed before their desired Lifeguard Training Course start date.
