This activity is closed to further registration.
Provides the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over.
Prerequisites: Swim 300 yards continuously; Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs; Complete a timed event within 1 min, 40 sec by starting in the water, swimming 20 yds, surface dive to a depth of 7-10 feet to retrieve a 10-lb object, return to the surface and swim 20 yds on the back to return to the starting point, exit the water without using steps or a ladder. Participants who successfully complete the Lifeguarding course receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED, valid for 2 years. Fee includes books and materials.
ADVANCED REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. THIS COURSE INCLUDES ONLINE CLASS WORK THAT MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS (MARCH 2ND, 2023). REGISTRATION WILL BE CLOSED ON FEBRUARY 23RD, 2023.
First Class on Thursday, March 2nd will take place at Granada High School Pool from 4-6pm
Class On March 3rd, 4th and 5th will be held at the Robert Livermore Aquatic Center from 9am- 5pm. A lunch break will be provided.
