Session 1: Intermediate Levels. Students will gain the creative tools to compose and create transparent watercolor paintings. This course is designed for students with some prior watercolor experience. The instructor gives demonstrations of various watercolor techniques with an emphasis on concept, design, value and color to stimulate creative painting. By using reference materials and imagination, students produce personal expressions in transparent watercolor.
Supply List: Students should assemble the following supplies for the first class: Good quality watercolor paper; Arches, Waterford, Kilimanjaro. (140# cold press sheets or block, (1- 22"x30" sheet can be cut down to 1/4 sheets); Brushes: (instructor uses Princeton Synthetic) a 3/4"-1" flat; 2 rounds between #4 - #10; a rigger; Tube Paints (student or professional grade)- a warm & a cool of each primary: Hansa yellow light, New gamboge, Alizarin crimson, Scarlet lake, Ultramarine blue, Phthalo blue; White palette with lid; lightweight support board for loose sheets; masking tape; pencil; a kneaded eraser; small sketchbook; water container(s); paper towels; Canson tracing paper.
