Session 1: Explore scientific botanical illustration as an art form. Students study the structure of a living plant and all of its components. Detailed observation and graceful drawing set up the composition. Other subjects may include, but are not limited to: fruits, vegetables, fungi, insects, birds, fish, nuts and shells. Instructor demonstrates watercolor techniques as well as a series of exercises showing how to draw and paint botanicals and related material. Some drawing experience is helpful but not required.
Supply List: A complete supply list will be distributed at the first class. Bring to the first class: A sketch book - approximately 11x14, Pencils: 2B, 4B, Tracing paper.
