The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures was constructed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences with the goal of preserving the history, science, and cultural impact of the film industry. Their premier exhibit, Stories of Cinema, presents the diverse, international, and complex stories of moviemakers, the works they create, and the impact their art has on the world. It celebrates the arts and sciences of moviemaking. Also included is The Path to Cinema, a collection that explores how cinema today evolved from a long tradition of optical amusements and devices of wonder. Backdrop: An Invisible Art spotlights the iconic Mt. Rushmore from North by Northwest. You will also explore the visual culture of Black cinema through a research-driven, in-depth look at the work of independent African American filmmakers and their art. Finally, you will have the option to step into The Oscars Experience and hear your name called, accept your award, and receive a video capturing your classic Hollywood moment. After your tour, enjoy a late lunch at a Los Angeles Classic – Phillippe’s. Lunch is included. This trip requires either full proof of vaccination against COVID-19 along with photo ID, 19 or proof of a negative PCR test with photo ID within 72 hours of the museum visit.
