*This class meets the prerequisite to become a CERA pottery studio member.*
This class is a beginner & advanced class, according to student's skill level.
Instructor: Janet Pharris
Description: Beginning class is especially designed for those who have never used the wheel or who are working on basic skills. The course includes wedging, centering clay, throwing basic bowl and cylinder forms, finishing, & glazing. Beginning potters receive substantial individual attention. Project will include mug and bowl.
Advanced class enables students to evolve at their own level and improve their skills. Projects will include altering forms in wheel thrown bowls. Other forms may be added, depending on skill level.
Materials needed: Pottery tool kit: $12; Cone 6 clay: $15; 2 gallon bucket with lid to recycle clay: $5. These items can be purchased on the first day of class if needed. Contact instructor if there are any questions about items needed. Wear comfortable clothes. Bring an apron and hand towels.
IMPORTANT: After the 6 week class, your clay creations will need to fire in the kiln and will be ready to pick up in 4 - 7 days. Please claim your work within 14 days by scheduling a time for pick up with the instructor. Pottery left on the Project Pick-Up shelf for longer than 14 days is subject to removal to make space for other students' work.
