About this event

Sue Tyler is leading three consecutive workshops on Watercolor Landscapes. Participants are welcome to register for one session, or all three! We explore fundamental techniques, tools, and materials needed for painting landscapes in watercolor. We practice drawing skills and design considerations essential to successful landscape paintings, as well as creative ways to achieve unique, exciting results. All levels are welcome. Bring a sketchbook, enthusiasm, and a few landscape photos if desired. Components of each class include a demo, practice session, short project, and critique. Watercolor landscapes, workshop #3: Color, Values, and Light, Feb 24 We experiment with color mixing and value by looking at color temperature, saturation, and hue quality. We analyze and discuss color qualities and the importance of color values and neutral colors. Sue demonstrates how value and color play an essential part in a successful painting. Students practice making pleasing neutral colors, cool and warm gradations, and then proceed to a finished painting. We save time for a critique on the month’s (or the day’s) achievements.
