The Eighter from Decatur bicycle rally is a fun-filled, family-friendly event designed to get our participants out of the city to enjoy the backcountry roads of Wise and Montague counties, all while raising money for a worthwhile cause, the transport of cancer patients to treatment centers by airplane, free of charge to the patients. The countryside is beautiful, the roads are good, the people are friendly, and the after-rally meal is free! Come join us for a great race and fun day! Rally registration begins at 6 am for same day registrants, and the rally will begin at 7 am sharp!
Event details and schedule
Rally begins at 7:00am. Registration for same day riders opens at 6:00am. You can park at the airport - parking assistance will be provided and parking is free. Be sure to arrive with plenty of time to spare in order to register or check in for the event. Remember, many others will be doing the same, so registration/check-in can get crowded. Bring whatever you need to make your rally as comfortable for you as possible, but be aware that bicycle helmets are a requirement - you can't ride the rally without one! Water and snacks will be provided at rest-stops along the route and there will be a free after-rally meal of hamburgers and hotdogs at the end of the event. Pre-rally packet pickup is 8am-5pm at Decatur Municipal Airport, the week prior to the race, or at the event itself. In order to be guaranteed a Tshirt, you will need to register by July 28th - after that date, Tshirt sizes and availability cannot be guaranteed. And this year, for our out of town guests who wish to come the night before, we are offering overnight camping. Bring your tent, RV, or camper the night before the rally and set up on a first come first serve basis. There will be no camping services, however - no water or sewer hookups, no electricity. Enjoy the rally, meet some new friends, and enjoy a challenging route!
