The BELOVED USA Walk is FOR the Beloved Community. In these challenging and divisive times we should realize we all have way more that connects us than divides us. This open-to-all community walk on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 9 a.m. is unique in that it will begin at the Decatur Square and travel through 5 neighborhoods and 2 cities toward its finish in Candler Park. We will walk along the sidewalks and obey all traffic rules. There's no rush - it's not a race!

It’s reaching back to the idea of the Beloved Community where we all accept our differences and realize that we’re stronger because of our individuality that can help serve everyone. We walk, instead of running, so we can talk and get to know and learn from folks. Once you’ve met and talked with a neighbor, you can start to build an understanding of more points of view. This can erase the divisiveness that politics and social media tend to inflame.

All proceeds will help non-profits in our intown community who are working hard to make life better. Paint Love (www.gopaintlove.org) and Intown Cares (www.intowncares.org) are the non-profits we'll support with this walk. All walkers will get a t-shirt marking the event and we hope to inspire more walks around Georgia and make it an annual ritual bringing folks together.

Event details and schedule

Meet at the Decatur Square above the MARTA station. Wear comfy clothes and be ready for weather. Bring water and a snack if you need it. The 9 a.m. walk should take between 1-1.5 hours on this 3 mile walk to Candler Park ball field.

There's a MARTA station a few blocks from Candler Park if you need to get back to Decatur, or Uber, or enjoy a refreshing walk back to the start if you need.

We'll have t-shirts and water at Candler Park.
