This Online Blended Course will teach you the proper skills, how to recognize a water emergency, as well as basic First Aid and CPR for the professional rescuer. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will become American Red Cross certified in Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer for 2 years.
Prerequisite: Participants must be 15 on or before the final scheduled date of the course. The participant must be able to swim 300 yards (12 laps) continuously using either freestyle or breaststroke; surface dive to depth of 7-10 ft, retrieve a 10 pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without the use of the ladder or steps within 1 minute, and 40 seconds.
Please bring the following items: towel, bathing suit, lunch, paper, something to write with and class manual (which will be emailed). Optional : Laptop (course material will be available online).
Advanced registration is required. This course includes online class work that must be completed before the first day of class (August 1, 2022). Registration will be closed on July 22, 2022.
Face masks must be worn at all times during the entire course. Face masks will be taken off when in the pool.
Pocket masks and gloves will be provided to each student.
