We're sorry, but this activity is over. The last meeting was Friday, August 6, 2021.
This dramatic series examines Russia’s art and culture under Joseph Stalin. We explore the beautiful, decorated subways stations and utopian architecture of Moscow, admire monumental paintings of Communist life on collective farms, and brave the Nazi siege of Saint Petersburg. Next, we will follow Russia’s heroic Realist art traditions during the cold war all the way to the Fall of the Soviet Union and the impressive academic excellence of the present-day. Art comes to life with John Paul Thornton in this final installment of our journey through Russia. (7 classes)
