How to Prepare for a Backpacking Trip $30.00 Whether you are a seasoned backpacker or a first-timer, the success of your backcountry adventures is highly dependent on proper preparation. In this classroom session we look at the variables, controllables, and unknowables of living in and moving through wild places. We’ll focus on the many interrelated layers of pre-work necessary to have a safe and successful backcountry experience including gear and resource procurement, menu planning, determining your route, and time-control plans. Intended Audience Anyone 14 yrs or older who has an interest in backpacking. Parents or legal guardians must participate with participants under 18 and must provide parental permission. Must be able to comply with our Essential Eligibility Criteria Program Outcomes: · Learn how determine your objective · Learn how to prepare to meet that objective · Learn about the resources necessary to reach the objective · Learn how to plan a pragmatic, time-controlled itinerary to meet the objective Prerequisites: None Duration: 1.5 hours Equipment: • Provided o Examples of gear, resources, and itineraries
