Intro to Map and Compass Navigation $25.00 Stay FOUND! On this classroom-based class, you will learn how to understand the information provided on a topographical map, the proper use of your compass and how to put the two together while planning your trip and while in the backcountry. You will learn how to design a route, navigate the route and make necessary adjustments in the field. Intended Audience Anyone 14 yrs or older who spends time outdoors. Parents or legal guardians must participate with participants under 18 and must provide parental permission. Program Outcomes: · Learn how to read topographic lines and other basic features on a map · Learn how to orient a map to match the environment both with and without a compass. · Learn basic compass features and how to utilize the map with a compass. · Learn how to plot your current position on your map. Prerequisites: None Duration: 1.5 hours Equipment: Provided o Topographic map o Compass
