About this event
Instructor: Tessa Loehwing 9 Classes Class Description: In this workshop series, using the basic principles of “Drawing with Children” by Mona Brookes, I will build a safe environment making it conducive to teach a step-by-step process that aims to improve drawing abilities at any age. The five basic elements used by Brookes to create shapes are: families of dots, circles, straight lines, curved lines and angle lines. Sounds simple and it is, which is why it works! This approach doesn’t take away the child’s own imagery or individual creativity but only enhances their skills. Using this technique the student demystifies the drawing process and learns how to draw recognizable objects and/or scenes. At the end of the series, I will organize a time for the students and parents to see the work as a group art show and collect their work into a portfolio. I will also use some of the time for arts and crafts independent projects as students move in and out of their drawing lessons.
