During this series, designed primarily for intermediate to advanced printmakers, we will practice a variety of techniques for creating multi-layer prints using a combination of different printmaking methods. Approaching our projects with an openness to experimentation, we will explore a range of registrations methods for mixing print processes. We will use class projects to develop effective methods for planning a layered print project using both analog and digital tools, to combine media such as monotype, multi-block relief, screen print, stone and plate litho, letterpress, etc. In addition to introductory projects for learning our layering methods, students will be encouraged to use our sessions to challenge themselves to any combination of print media using the alignment processes practiced throughout the class. Empowered with the techniques from this course, students will come away with the confidence to continue with any mixed media print experimentations they can imagine.
