About this event
In this 2-day weekend workshop you will review basic hand sewing and garment construction (and deconstruction) techniques through a combination of lecture, demonstrations, hands-on activities and a field trip to local thrift stores nearby. By the end of this class students will learn basic hand sewing techniques for mending, alterations and garment customization. These skills will help you extend the life of your favorite garments, alter them to fit better, or customize/repurpose items according to your own design. Materials: Students’ own garments (Instructor will bring a few sample items to share) 1 pair of cotton pants or shorts with pockets 1 cotton shirt (woven or denim, not knit/t-shirt) Fabric or patches (optional)
