About this event

Instructor: Samantha Bittman Dates: July 7, 12 In the TAC at Home workshop, students will be introduced to the basics of reading and writing weave drafts for the 4-harness floor loom. During the first session, we will start by identifying the parts of existing weave drafts in relation floor loom, and then learn how to make basic weave drafts from scratch. In the second session, we will look at how to use color notation to represent different yarns and get a better sense of what your fabric would look like. There will also be time to share everyone’s weave drafts and ask questions. Course Requirements: Weaving 101, or equivalent weaving experience. Materials + Equipment: -¼” graph paper -pencil -eraser -ruler or other straight edge, -color drawing media of various colors (pencils, pens, or markers). Note: You can make your own custom graph paper on-line for free and print it out. There are many sites that offer this including this one http://www.printfreegraphpaper.com. Blick also carries graph paper and can ship. This is the one TAC normally orders for in- person learning: https://www.dickblick.com/products/bienfang-gridded-paper/ I recommend the ¼” square to start for visibility, and later if you want, moving to 1/8” or 1/10” graph paper. -- Our classes are designed to focus on a learned skill rather than a final product. At TAC, our mission is to provide skills and knowledge for a lifetime!
