About this event
Let's work together to develop TYPING skills, which will come in SO handy for SOR schoolwork! Regents students write and submit papers online throughout their high school career, and that task becomes unnecessarily difficult if the student is not a touch typist. The "hunt and peck" method just does not serve the student well :-) Practice is key to typing fluency; therefore, it will be important for students to continue the camp typing exercises throughout the summer. We will also learn how to format documents in google doc, which is the software most frequently used for Regents papers. This camp will be devoted to equipping students to master document creation so that once back in school, they can focus instead on the ideas and arguments they wish to present, rather than struggling with the mechanics of typing and formatting. I (Leslie) teach History in SOR, so I've seen firsthand how very much our high school students need typing fluency! I taught my own children to type, but I also know it takes practice, practice, practice to cement typing speed and accuracy. In another season of my life, I typed manuscripts for eight hours/day :-) We won't type for eight hours on camp days, but we will get students started on improving this important skill!
