About this event
"Kind and strong." Sissy Goff (M.Ed., LPC-MHSP) recently encouraged the Regents community of teachers and parents to equip our girls in how to be kind AND strong in navigating their relationships. In this camp we will learn and practice communication skills derived from conflict mediation principles, and have fun doing so. We will add relationship "tools" to your teen girls' toolbox. It IS possible to communicate with integrity, godliness, and effectiveness in the midst of strong emotions, and to strengthen our girls' confidence in dealing with difficult situations. I (Leslie) earned a Graduate Certificate in Conflict Resolution at SMU, and the coursework was a life-changing and equipping experience for me. I learned it is possible to move past the typical "fight or flight" response to emotional stress, and to instead respond in healthy and constructive ways. I had never been taught those relational skills in school, in family or in church. Yet, Christ is the ultimate mediator. He can equip us to both advocate for our needs while respecting others.
