WORLD BUILDING & FEARSOME CRITTERS Join us as we introduce students to the concept of world building inspired by production designer Alex McDowell who created the worlds of The Bee Movie, The Cat in the Hat and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Much more than a story time “setting”, world building involves inventing the society, customs and an architectural language of the future. Participants are invited to imagine a future world of micro kingdoms, characters, stories and artifacts inspired by the ancient mythological story of the world carried on the back of a turtle. Using “fearsome critters” from mythological folklore as a starting place, we will approach world building through collage, drawing, map-making and model building on the backs of uncommon and fantastical beasts.
