This nationally acclaimed program is designed for beginning as well as advanced legal workers. Students will be trained to investigate complex fact patterns, research the law, interview witnesses and assist in preparing cases for courtroom litigation. The instruction is practice-oriented and relates to those areas of the law in which legal assistants are most in demand. This course is also effective in careers where knowledge of the law is a plus. There are no prerequisites. Successful graduates will receive a Certificate of Completion from USC Aiken. To be awarded the certificate, students must successfully complete the first 7-week session for Paralegal I, break for one week, and complete the second 7-week session for Paralegal II. Each session requires passing six tests and completing two legal document-writing assignments (one assignment in Paralegal II). Textbooks must be purchased through the Center for Legal Studies.
