About this event

7th and 8th graders will use the SD weight room to learn the fundamentals of Strength and Conditioning. They will learn how to safely use the weight room equipment, how to structure workouts effectively, how to perform fundamental exercises with correct form, how nutrition plays a role in athletic performance and more! Val Harbidge is an ACSM certified movement specialist who is skilled in Wellness Coaching, Injury Prevention, Fitness Training, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Nutrition. Val has been working with youth athletes at the YMCA for over 8 years and we are excited to have her on campus to be a hands-on guide for our young athletes! This program will begin on January 7th and will be a total of 10 sessions over 5 weeks (on Tuesdays and Fridays). Each week will focus on a different fundamental principle of strength training.
