NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THEY’RE DOING, SO WE MIGHT AS WELL PLAY: A Discourse on Movie Trailers and Telling the Story that only You Can.

PAM CUT • 934 SW Salmon PortlandOR  97205 Organized by PAM CUT

About this event

Join award-winning trailer editor and storyteller, Travis Abels as he shares his experience of leaving the comforts of home to pursue a life in the arts, some successes, and a metric-ton of failure. He will demystify the process of short-form editing, dissect work samples, and encourage makers to worry less about creating something “good” to focus more on playing with curiosity to uncover the stories inside us that yearn to be told. His work can be seen in the marketing campaigns of La La Land, Parasite, Bridgerton, Westworld and Beach Bum - (which remains one of the biggest commercial flops in movie history.) He’s also a seven-time winner of The Moth storytelling competition, and currently tours his multi-sensory storytelling show, “Things I Hide From Dad.” Based in Portland, Oregon, Travis shows unreasonable enthusiasm for squirrels, interactions of color, and the collision points between opposing forces — where a cliff meets the ocean, or our breath meets the outside world. Catch him on Instagram @travisjay or travisabels.com
