This initiative is developing a first-of-its-kind Virginia Viewshed Register to identify and officially designate the most scenic areas, is creating a "Virginia Viewfinder’s" program to engage the public in recognizing Virginia’s most cherished views and vistas and is an action in identifying and preserving special places, benefiting both rural and urban citizens of the Commonwealth for years to come. Scenic Virginia created a reproducible format for evaluating a viewshed that proves that they are scenic and a way for community organizations to engage and identify each community’s treasured views. Their goal is to reach out across the state and remind citizens that they have scenic places that should be recognized and have them show us their most Treasured Views.
