INTRODUCTION TO THE HAROLD Saturday July 20th & 27th, 11am-4pm Limited to 9 students Pre-requisite of at least TCP Level 4 NOTE: We will be covering material extremely quickly. Attendees MUST commit to all four sessions. SCHEDULE 11:00 a.m - 1:00 p.m. early session 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. lunch break, networking and Q&A 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. afternoon session DESCRIPTION The Harold is the grandaddy of longform. It was invented by Del Close in the 60s, developed at iO in Chicago, transplanted to New York by UCB, and embedded into the heart-minds of generations of comedy writers and performers to this day. In this two weekend intensive, we will learn the fundamentals of The Harold form with a focus on organic group work, presentational material, and finding moves that redefine our games, shows and worlds. Sat. 1 early - Structure, Openings and First Beats Sat. 1 afternoon - Group Games Sat. 2 early - Second Beats Sat. 2 afternoon - Show Moves, World Moves, and Putting It All Together
