Formal poetry is ancient and beautiful. Knowledge of it also helps poets write better in any poetic genre. The course focuses on meter, the poetic line, and poem forms. We’ll also, naturally, touch on the other elements involved in writing poetry: image, diction, voice, etc. Expect mini-lectures, workshops, and exercises.
